Interestingly carrying you comparison to achieving immortality through one's progeny, the act of creation of art is probably thousand times more pleasurable than the act of creation of progeny. I am no great artist. But I have those moments of inspiration when my writing just captures my soul and I feel some external force is working through my fingers on my keyboard and I am just an observer watching a divine act of creation. Those are moments of pure ecstacy. Then the writing is done. The moment has passed. You regret it is over and long for it to return. But you never know when it seizes you again.
