Freedom from Fuel Hikes

What can we do to be from fuel hikes? Here are a couple of things right off the top of my head.

Maybe it’s time to go back to our forefathers’ mode of transport: use horses instead of cars. But no, that won’t do. Horses were used only by the king & his men. So we the aam aadmi can try cows and donkeys. They are easy on our shrinking pockets – no refueling, no servicing & low maintenance.

Instead of ambulance, hospitals can utilize the services of the ubiquitous bullock cart. The bullocks will surely navigate through traffic better. All they have to do is poke the guy who doesn’t let them go through! They can assure patients of better & faster service. And all this with no fuel!

Our dear politicians can be given the work from home option. That is, if they finally, really, want to work. No force, no compulsions, please! Zabardasti nahin! And if they do agree to it, all those ‘lalbattis’ will be off the road. Utopia!

The racer boys can be requested to switch from drag races to cycle races. Instead of burning fuel, burn rubber!

And while we are at it, we can give it a shot & ask Dr. Vijay Mallya, who is busy with the upcoming Formula One racing, to invent a car that runs on beer. Nothing is impossible for our own Mr. Flamboyant.

  1. I am the first one to comment! :)

You suggest we take donkeys as conveyance? I think people like me working in corporates are already donkeys.. (Those who agree, say 'aye')

But I like the idea about working from home. Why just politicians then?? it should be applicable to lesser mortals like me too :D

Great post! :) Keep it up!

  2. :) I like your alternative. But I have one question. What about the maintenance headed created by cows, horses and donkeys excreting on public ways? :) I guess this also was a problem during olden times. But they didn't have as much population as now. Food for thought?

  6. Lets break things down, from my point of view. And this will be so much fun.If in Kuwait,My husband starts duty at 6:30am normally, this way.I will have to wake up at 4:30am.Gather the chara, hay or grass or whatever that they love to feed on and feed it.Since Im already up,I will make breakfast and wake him up.He will leave by 5:45..no earlier...they are more than 2000 employees, they will be a tanga jam.
Imagine me doing grocery shopping,it will take me more than 4 hours to reach the market I usually shop from.
Cycle is a wonderful option but imagine driving a cycle to work in 50 celsius heat. Most of them wont make it 40 minutes away from their residence. We neither can feed our cars enough electricity coz its way too expensive in this part of the world.People are already using CNG gas to run their cars besides diesel and what not.
With animals ,grass and hay would be very expensive coz where one family owns 1 car, people would now own 4 horses.Every evening,we will clean our animals, clean the dung out, make dung cakes to cook food and heat water....
Sujatha...What are we gonna do in the future? Ostrich...taming other animals....grow genetically huge dogs and cats, like the "Liger" and use them for quick transport.Obesity will be no more and we all will slim out just fine to 50kgs.

Go to 'Edit' this 'Post'. Select the full text to which you want to add a hyperlink. In the Compose Toolbar (just above the compose Post textarea), click on 'Link'. A popup window opens, paste the full link of the target page in the text box next to 'Web address' and push the 'OK' button. Finally, don't forget to hit the 'Update' button on the top of the page.

Bangalore is the worst affected as we know. Cycling is a much better option. My Doc has also advised me to walk less and cycle more, so I'll have to ditch my bike anyway. :P
